Let the pedalling begin!

Tuesday was another long day in the car, traveling the width of North Dakota and most of Montana. They stopped for a photo op at the "geographic center" of the United States. Hopefully the teachers following this blog will be impressed by that one! Zhenya and Sasha thought it was neat to stand in the middle of the USA. They arrived in Great Falls in time for dinner and spent the night with our friends, Steve & Janis Cross and their son, David.

Lee, Z, and Sasha bought food and other supplies for their trip today. They added some rain gear, safety flags, mirrors for the bikes, and campstove supplies. Most of the afternoon was spent packing all of their gear into the waterproof bags that they carry in their BOBs and Sasha's saddlebags. They worked out a system to have access to their rain gear, cold weather gear, food, and more commonly needed goods. I believe that Lee was overheard trying to figure out how to get more weight into Zhenya's BOB than his own..... Just kidding! Zhenya is quite strong, though, and Lee believes that Z might even be capable of pulling Lee and Lee's BOB behind him should the need arise. :)

Tonight the guys had dinner with our friends the Clarks. Dave, Beth, and family live north of town on a great country road. Zhenya drove the Durango out there, using his new learner's permit for the first time! So many firsts already and they haven't even started pedalling.

Thursday, 6/11/09, is DAY ONE of Pedal or Die! Please pray for safety for the guys as they start their adventure. Pray for good road conditions, favorable weather, and continued great fellowship for the 3 of them as they go enjoy God's beautiful creation!
